Introduction to Floristry Workshop
Introduction to Floristry Workshop
A day long course aimed at those who want to learn the basics in floristry, either to use at home or to give you the confidence to start working as a florist.
18th October 2024: 10am-4pm *Sold Out
Please note we are currently working on our 2025 Classes schedule and should be launching them in the coming weeks
About the workshop
We will start the day with a chat about how The Flower Appreciation Society began and give you lots of tips and advice on starting up your own business. We will demonstrate how to select the best blooms, choose lovely colour combinations and create shapes. We will also show you how to condition and prepare your flowers.
Next we will demonstrate how to arrange flowers in a vase using sustainable techniques. Then it will be your turn to have a go and create your very own centre piece using plenty of beautiful seasonal blooms. The vase and flowers will be yours to take home.
Following lunch, we will focus on a larger scale floral arrangement using sustainable methods. You will each have a go at creating your own floral masterpiece in one of our large antique vessels. There will be an opportunity to take styled photographs of finished work (we will take some for you too!)
We will finish the day with teaching you how to make and wrap a hand tied bouquet. And show you how to package it for easy transportation- yours to take home too.
When in season, we will use lots of British flowers and foliage for this class including some grown in our cutting garden round the corner from our studio in Hackney. We will take high res pictures of your creations which we will send you after the workshop. We encourage you to bring your own cameras/smart phones to document your work through the day.
All flowers and materials and refreshments will be provided. Bring a big, strong bag to take your creations home in.
We look forward to getting flowery with you!

Testimonial
"I had absolutely no experience in floristry before doing Ellie & Anna's one day course but it really didn't matter. From the moment you walked into their flower-filled workshop you felt at ease, and the girls were so encouraging and inspiring, even my somewhat 'wild' first attempts made me feel proud. I couldn't recommend this course more for people wanting a taste of floristry, or even those who already have experience and want to see how the FAS' signature style can help their work. The day was well-scheduled in a relaxed environment, meaning you genuinely take away useful skills and information - and a whole lot of beautiful blooms! The course has given me the confidence to approach my local florist to help out - I couldn't have done that before. Thank you for a wonderful introduction to magical world of flowers!"
